Developing and Validating a Nursing Administrative System at a University Hospital

ABSTRACT
Aim: To develop and validate a nursing administrative system at Internal Medicine Hospital affiliated to Cairo university hospital.
Methods: Descriptive methodological design was utilized. The study was conducted at Internal Medicine of El Kaser Al Aini hospital. The study sample consisted of all the nursing staff total number 93 which included (one Chief of nursing, 3 Assistant chief of nursing, 15 head nurses, and 74 staff nurse). All available records and documents related to the administrative system were audited. Three data collection the nursing administrative system questionnaire, auditing checklist, and Administrative system validity oppinionaire sheet.
Results: Absence of many nursing administrative system components such as written mission, vision, philosophy, goals and job description.etc. as reported by nursing staff and confirmed through auditing all the available documents in the hospital. Based on these findings, a proposed valid administrative system was developed and validated by number of experts. The study
Conclusion: that the proposed nursing administrative system should be implemented in the Internal Medicine Hospital affiliated to Cairo university hospital and disseminated by the nursing administration department for newly employees in the orientation program. Also the proposed structure should be reviewed, revised and updated periodically.
