ABSTRACT
Despite the downward trend in the incidence rate, the
situation in Kyrgyzstan is complicated by the spread of drug-resistant
tuberculosis and tuberculosis (TB) combined with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
infection. Stigma and discrimination are among the strongest negative factors
affecting the lives of people affected by tuberculosis, leading to many
patients not seeing doctors or dropping out of treatment. This article is
devoted to an important issue, the study of the manifestation of stigma and
discrimination in patients with HIV - infection combined with tuberculosis,
which leads to a delay in diagnosis, early initiation of treatment, an increase
in the reservoir of the source of tuberculosis infection, including
drug-resistant tuberculosis among population. The
publication contains a thorough and detailed analysis of the complex of social
and medico-biological actions necessary to prevent the spread of HIV infection
and tuberculosis.
